Its finally I've started blogging on some serious and important topic.
The topic of this page is the climatic changes the world is facing at present.I, living in the lesser himalayan zone, am being affected by
this problem specially. The Summers used to start in my region in the last of April and would reach the max heat by middle of June and then by August they would easily be replaced by Rains brought by the South west monsoon.(Picture 1: Such landscapes won't be visible if the condition remains same.)
But this year i.e., 2008, the condition is totally different the monsoon reached Delhi 2 weeks earlier, breaking a 108 year record. And the region I live in had virtually nil summers. And the monsoons started in july.
Why is the world facing such impacts? Why is the climate suddenly changing? Why is the balance made by mother nature being disturbed? To know this we must look at the changing traits of humans.Last year light snowfall was seen in the Arabian region which used to have even scarce rainfall. Why so?! Even grass growth was observed in the Antartic region which is supposed to have no vegetaion at all.
Let us have a look at the reasons of this change:
Population boom: The world population reached 6 billion in 2006 and is reaching new heights with large increase in the percentage as we reach 2008.
Vehicular boom: As the man gets richer and the auto prices have a downfall in the Indian market especially due to the launching of cheap cars as Tata Nano, Suzuki A-Star, and even MS800.
Plastic boom: Large amounts of polythene bags are used and wasted each day.Being non-biodegradable, these bags polute the environment and defertile the soil due to which the land polluton is increasing.
Oil boom: Even after drastic increase in the oil prices, the oil consumption still is on high even now cars with no movement and growling engines can be seen on roadsides.
Now, let us think about what needs to be done 'bout the situation rather than discussing the faults committed by us:
Go hybrid: A great option to riduce emmission is going hybrid i.e., switching to hybrid cars which are cars that use petrol and electrical energy as a fuel option e.g., Honda civic hybrid etc. Now many other Indian car brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, and even Tata are planning to launch Hybrid cars.
LPG and CNG use: Even these fuel options are emission free upto certain limits.MS800 DUO etc. are good and cheap options available in the 2-2.5 lac range.
Paper or cloth bag use: Instead of using those polythene bags, we can switch to cloth bags or Paper bags.Carry your cloth bag to te market and ask the green grosser to put the vegetables in it. You, like this, will contribute greatly to your environment.
After reading to my post you may or may not become a greater contributor to your environment.
My best wishes are with you and I hope like this you will reserve a seat for yourself in the Heavens.
So, GOOD LUCK!
